Celebrate Black Love Day🫶🏾

February 13th is Black Love Day.

Established in 1993 by Ayo Handy Kendi, Black Love Day’s mission is to preserve the legacy, culture, and tradition within our community.

“We encourage people on this day to do something very simple—just demonstrate love for 24 hours, and celebrate and atone, offer forgiveness to ourselves and others, and to accept the very important tenets—what we call the five Black love tenets.” -Ayo Handy-Kendi
The five tenets are – love toward the Creator, love for self, love for the family, love within the Black community, and love for Black people.
What does celebrating Black Love Day look like?
It can take many forms. The African American Holiday Association (AAHA) website suggests participating in Black community activities, supporting Black-owned businesses, reflection and other actions. Sometimes it can be as simple as hanging out with friends and posting on social media about your appreciation and love for Black culture.
Say it loud..!🫶🏾✊🏾👏🏾
